Ägyptisches U-Boot Typ 209/1400mod S 44 | Ägyptisches U-Boot "S 44" im Nord-Ostsee-Kanal, auf den Weg nach Ägypten. Ägypten hat insgesamt vier Boote vom Typ 209/1400mod in Deutschland bestellt. 2011 wurde der Vertrag für die ersten zwei Boote unterschrieben, 2015 wurden zwei weitere Boote bestellt. Das erste Boot "S 41" wurde im Dezember 2016 übergeben, die letzte Einheit "S 44" im Juli 2021. Alle vier wurden bei der ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems GmbH in Kiel gebaut. Aufgrund der Menschenrechtslage in Ägypten ist dieses Rüstungsgeschäft nicht unumstritten. Der deutsche Typ 209 mit seinen diversen Unterklassen ist ein "Exportschlager" aus Deutschland.
